Aran Islands

Inis Mór (Inishmore)

Inis Mór is the largest of the three Islands, its name literally translates as ‘Big Island’, 14km by 3.8km with a population of 900 approx. It is the most popular island, up to 2,000 will visit each day during the summer season.  The ferry boats pull in to the main village Kilronan, where there are several dining, shopping and accommodation options to choose from. The island is a lively place at night, with great Irish music and dance shows. Inis Mór also has the only ATM on the islands (genuine off-shore banking!) and the widest variety of transport options including Mini-bus guided tour, Pony and trap guided tour, Hire a bicycle and Walking.

Inis Meáin (Inishmaan)

Inis Meáin is the ‘middle island’ and least visited of the three islands and so its landscape, culture, and history can be explored in peace and at the visitor’s own pace. The island is just 5km by 3km so easily explorable by foot and bicycle. Things to do include a visit to the Inis Meáin Knitting Company, historical & cultural sites, restaurants and local pub.
