Nordic Walking from Burkedale House & Cottage
Based at Burkedale House in the archeologically rich area of Dysert O’Dea near Corofin, Nordic Fitness Ireland provide residential and non-residential courses in learning to walk using Nordic poles. Hosts Joanne & Tony are both qualified instructors in Nordic & Fitness Walking and have a comprehensive knowledge of the local area.
Nordic Walking was originally designed as a summer training routine for cross-country skiers. It is based on using specially designed walking poles that use the upper body to propel you forward as you walk turning your walk into whole-body exercise. It can be enjoyed at many levels, from walking for health and leisure to athletic Nordic running. More than 10 million people globally enjoy this outdoor activity and it is now growing in Ireland with an overall goal of achieving general physical and mental wellbeing.
Our Nordic Walking experiences provide the opportunity to embrace the fabulous Clare countryside whilst learning a new skill. Relax in the garden of Burkedale House and enjoy tea and cakes or lunch on our half and one day experiences. Make a weekend of it and stay in our luxury self-catering accommodation.( https://www.burkedalehouseandcottage.com/)
Join us on a walk and head in the footsteps of the Cromwellian armies along the medieval pilgrim road to St Tola’s Monastery and Dysert O’Dea Castle. Alternatively immerse yourself in the hazel woodland and listen to the flow of the water through the streams at one of our mindfulness walks.
Regular walkers are welcome to join some of our walks.
